The situation of artists and the cultural recovery in the EU
Overall, this report, adopted by the European Parliament, addresses the challenges of the cultural and creative sector in dealing with the pandemic, working conditions and the role of culture in society. Suggestions are made on a number of important issues such as: cross-border mobility and administrative requirements obstacles, access to art education and lifelong learning, implementation of the Copyright Directive, income of artists and others working in the sector and concern regarding buy-out contracts, access to collective bargaining for solo self-employed, fair remuneration and social security, protection and defence of artistic freedom, access of access and cultural workers from marginalised groups, private and public investment and including the CCSI in recovery funds. The report also calls on the European Commission and Member States to further exchange on artistic freedom and explore further possibilities of a European Status of Artists.
